The Superior Council for the Arts (SCFTA) is part of the energetic and creative arts community in the restored 19th century stone building on the corner of Broadway Street and Hammond Avenue in the wonderful historic Trade and Commerce Marketplace in the North End of Superior, Wisconsin. SCFTA joins the North End Historic District and communities of the region in growing a flourishing arts environment. Since 2006, The Superior Council for the Arts (SCFTA) has been a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization.

The focus of this exhibition is to showcase emerging artists, reflect culture, and display arts ability to quote the past, comment on the present, and look to the future. Artists include Vince Cody - Sculpture/Painting, Chelsea Morgan of Magic Box Photography - Photography, Christopher Selleck - Photography, Adam McCauley - Painter, Michael Smith - Painter, Jeredt Runions - Painter. Colin Wiita - Mixed Media.

Special event for Gallery Hop: Hands on Collage making 1-3 pm Saturday. A Postcards from Our Estuary original arts international postcard competition workshop sponsored by Superior Council for the Arts at North End Arts Gallery. Small fee. Drawing for the ceramic bowl by Bob Briscoe will be on April 21.

Arts on a Postcard Exhibits in Superior, WI July 15 - Sept. 4, 2012
Imagine yourself sending “wish you were here” post cards while on a fascinating (special?) vacation exploring the slow waters at the confluence of the St. Louis River and Lake Superior—over 16,000 acres in Lake Superior’s watershed: lakes, rivers, creeks, bays, wetlands and sloughs teeming with aquatic plant and animal life. THIS is special. Wish you were here.

Postcard categories: original art, photography, poetry, short story, musical score, etc.

Rectangular Entries on card stock at least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long or no more than 4-1/4 inches high x 6 inches long

SCFTA Members, 3 entries free, non-members, $10.00 per entry. Under 18, 5 entries free. International entries welcome.

July 15 is Lake Superior Day. This is the date around which we will plan week-long events in the Gardens, the Gallery and the Boathouse.

10 to 20 postcard entries will be chosen to be enlarged to small billboard size for outdoor exhibition in Broadway Community Gardens and the grounds around the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve (LSNERR) headquarters on Barker's Island. Details to be announced.
